It uses multiple timing layers running simultaneously. The primary layer is called Vimshottari dasha — a planetary period system that shows which part of your chart is active right now. When the active periods meaningfully activate relationship indicators in the natal chart and Navamsha — including the relevant houses, their rulers, Venus, and other partnership factors — that is when relationship material becomes significantly more likely to manifest.
Transits layer on top of the dasha to show when that active material gets triggered, intensified, or made visible.
When dasha periods, sub-periods, transits, and other timing layers all keep converging on the same relationship indicators at the same time, the chart is showing you a real window.
Jupiter transiting your 7th house is one indicator. By itself it is not a prediction.
Jupiter crosses your 7th house roughly every twelve years. Not every Jupiter transit to the 7th produces a significant relationship — because the dasha also has to be supportive, Venus's condition matters, the Navamsha matters, and the other timing layers need to be showing something too.

Often yes. When the chart gives enough resolution, I work from year down to months, then to weeks, and sometimes to very tight windows within a week. The depth depends on how clearly multiple independent layers keep pointing at the same period.
If the chart only supports a broad window, that is what I say. I do not manufacture precision the chart is not actually showing. But if everything keeps converging tighter, I keep drilling.
This is the distinction that matters most and gets talked about the least.
The timing shows when significant relationship material activates. It does not tell you the person who arrives is good for you, that the relationship is healthy, or that it lasts.
Someone can enter exactly on schedule and reign absolute hell over your life. They can trigger a move, financial upheaval, family changes, emotional rupture, career restructuring — and still be astrologically significant. The entry is real. The timing is real. The outcome may be terrible.
Ten years later, the chart may show the actually healthy long-term relationship.

A short sub-period can still deliver a major event if it is triggering a larger relationship signature already active in the chart, so I am looking at the whole timing stack — not simply assuming longer period equals bigger relationship.
